Accounting Technician
Working under the supervision of the Director of Financial Operations, the Accounting Technician will work as part of the Finance Department team, assisting in various day-to-day accounting. CARE has built and manages 7 apartment communities in Northern Colorado. Separate financial statements are generated for each, plus consolidated financial statements for the overall operation
Qualifications:
- Associates degree in accounting or 2 years accounting experience
- Understanding and commitment to the philosophy, mission and values of CARE Housing
- Financial acumen and expertise desirable
- Ability to maintain accurate, up-to-date records and reports
Duties and Responsibilities:
Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Applicant should be detail-oriented and accurate. A working knowledge of accrual accounting is important and college-level coursework is a plus. Experience with Microsoft products, especially Excel is required.
- Prepare checks weekly for vendor payments
- Assure adequate documentation for payment
- Reconcile vendor statements for monthly payment
- Day-to-day accounting functions
- Assist with budget preparation, financial reporting, and strategic planning
- Reconcile petty cash accounts monthly and prepare an appropriate journal entry to record expenses
- Assist Director of Financial Operations with filing and other duties as needed and as time permits
- Some overtime work may be available during peak accounting cycles such as year-end
- Position reports to the Director of Financial Operations
- Other duties as assigned
